Why ParkSmarter with MSQR?

Why an app-free service matters

  • Works on every phone. If your phone has a camera and a browser, it works — even older models that can't install the latest parking apps.
  • Works on work and managed phones. Many employer-issued or MDM-managed phones don't allow new app installs. Using ParkSmarter with MSQR, the driver simply uses the camera and browser already on the device.
  • Works for visitors and tourists. Out-of- country visitors often can't reach the UK app stores, or don't want to create yet another account for a single visit. A QR scan is universal.
  • Works for the digitally cautious. Older drivers, drivers wary of giving every operator their email and a password, or anyone who simply doesn't want another app on their phone — can pay in seconds without signing up.
  • No phone storage used. Parking apps can eat 50–200 MB of phone storage each. ParkSmarter with MSQR uses none.
  • Nothing to update. No app updates to chase before you can pay. The service simply runs in the browser you already keep up to date.

How it works

  • Press the button on the MSQR terminal to wake the screen.
  • Point your phone's camera at the QR code — your phone will offer to open the parking page.
  • Pick your stay from the tariff list and confirm your vehicle registration. The system checks the plate against DVLA so you can see your make / colour / year and know you typed it right.
  • Pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or your card via the Stripe-secured checkout. A receipt lands in your email.
  • Optional reminder before your stay expires — opt in with your email at checkout and we send a heads-up with a one-tap link to extend.

Or pay by phone — no scan needed

Where the QR is dirty, hidden, or your camera isn't co-operating, look at the car-park signage. If the operator has switched these on for the site, the signage will show a phone number and a 4-digit code:

  • Pay by call — ring the number and enter the 4-digit code on the voice menu. The system reads the available tariffs aloud, takes a saved card on file (one-time setup the first time), and texts you a receipt.
  • Pay by text — send a text to the number containing just the 4-digit code. You'll get a one-tap pay link back. Tapping it opens exactly the same checkout page a QR scan would, on your phone's browser.

Both options use the same tariffs, free periods, vehicle types and pricing the QR flow does — just a different way in.

What about my data?

We collect only what we need to run the parking session: your plate, the location, the tariff, the start and expiry time, and a payment confirmation from Stripe. We do not sell data or run advertising. See the privacy policy for the full details.
